How to Set up a St Patrick Sensory Bin
Start by making yellow colored rice, we used lemon scented using the below recipe.
Lemon-Scented Colored Rice
Ingredients
- 1 Tablespoon of Lemon extract (Found in the baking section at supermarket)
- 2 cups of White rice
- 1 Tbs of Vinegar
- 6-8 drops of yellow Food Coloring
- 1 gallon Ziplock Bag
- Aluminum paper
- Tray
Instructions
- Measure 1 Tbsp of vinegar into zip lock
- Mix in yellow food coloring into the vinegar
- Measure 3 cups of white rice and add into the ziplock bag
- Close ziplock and shake, shake, shake to mix well.
- Add in 1 Tablespoon of lemon extract
- Cover a tray with aluminum foil
- Spread colored rice into aluminum foil and allow for it to dry
- Place on sensory bin for a fine motor skills activity

Print out the free counting cards and laminate them so they last longer. I created these cards as a kit last year and it was a great success! These cards go up to the number 6.
The set of counting cards is great for practicing counting and learning number recognition (number recognition is ideal for two and three-year-olds).

Cut out the mouth of the leprechauns and place them over a cup, securing them with tape or a piece of playdough.
