Free Age 1 Homeschool Curriculum for February | Play-Based Activities

Core Focus: Body awareness, early autonomy & practical life through sensory exploration
This month, we focus on body awareness and early practical life skills through simple, sensory-rich play.

New here? This month’s plan is one piece of our homeschool preschool curriculum guide, which shows how each month’s themes fit into a full year of learning at home.

February is about helping your one-year-old explore their body, movements, and growing sense of independence. Through everyday experiences like opening containers, moving their body, touching different textures, and participating in real-life routines, your child builds confidence, coordination, and awareness in a natural, unhurried way. That gentle pace lines up with how ZERO TO THREE describes play at this age: young toddlers learn by doing, repeating, and exploring with their whole bodies.

Inside this month’s masterclass, you’ll learn what practical life truly looks like at this age, not as independence, but as participation. You’ll discover how small, meaningful moments support learning long before formal instruction.

This month is not about doing things perfectly.
It’s about trusting play, honoring your child’s pace, and letting learning unfold through everyday life.

🎓 Parent Masterclass: Practical Life Skills

In this month’s masterclass, we explore what practical life is and why it looks very different from independence-based expectations.

At this age, practical life is not about completing tasks. It’s about participation. You’ll learn how everyday moments like opening and closing containers, washing hands, exploring textures, moving the body, and interacting with real objects help your child build body awareness, coordination, confidence, and early autonomy.

The goal is not to rush skills.
It’s to create meaningful opportunities for your child to feel capable, connected, and engaged through play.

🎵 Circle Time with Alexa: Body Parts

This month’s circle time focuses on helping your child become familiar with their body through simple songs, movement, and repetition.

At this age, circle time is not about sitting still or naming every body part correctly. It’s about listening, pointing, moving, and connecting words to real experiences. Through playful routines and familiar songs, your child begins to build early language, body awareness, and confidence in a relaxed, engaging way.

Keep circle time short, flexible, and joyful. Even a few minutes of shared attention is enough to support learning at this stage.
