Toddlers are naturally curious about what they see.
Reflections, light, and movement create a sense of wonder that invites them to slow down, observe, and explore.
This simple provocation uses a mirror to create an environment where your child can discover patterns, shapes, and changes—on their own.
🧩 What You Need
- A small mirror or reflective surface
- A tray or flat area
- A few loose parts:
- MagnaTiles or translucent tiles
- pom-poms
- beads
- natural materials (leaves, flowers)

Place the mirror flat on the table or floor.
Add a few materials on or beside the mirror.
Let the light hit the surface naturally if possible.

Invite your child to explore.
- Move objects across the mirror
- Watch how they reflect
- Stack, line up, or arrange materials
You can support with simple language:
- “I see two…”
- “It changed…”
- “Look at the colors…”
Then step back.
