How to Do the Activity
- Tell your child:
“Today we’re going to make messages.” - Explain that messages don’t need real letters or words yet.
Lines, shapes, and scribbles are all ways to communicate. - Invite your child to:
- Draw marks on paper
- “Write” a message for:
- A family member
- A toy
- A stuffed animal
- Ask open-ended questions:
- “Who is this message for?”
- “What does it say?”
- Help your child deliver the message:
- Tape it to a door
- Place it near a toy
- Hand it to the person
