Homeschool Together Pod

Learning together, one country at a time.

A homeschool community for Kindergarten through 3rd grade. We meet each week to travel the world through great stories, dig into hands-on projects, play outside, and grow up alongside the same familiar faces — the part that’s hard to do alone, done together.

The Week

Wednesdays together, Fridays out exploring

Our core day meets Wednesdays, 10:00 AM–2:00 PM at the Hialeah Gardens Library — an indoor space full of books, with a fenced playground just outside the door, a splash pad nearby, and a nature-walk park within walking distance.

Wednesday · Core Day

Around the World + Music & Art

Around the World studies, living-books reading, and math thinking, plus Music & Art enrichment at 1:00.

Friday · Free

Community Day

Field trips and gatherings out in our community — a museum one week, a playground the next, sometimes a pool day at a member family’s home.

Now in session — the pod began Wednesday, September 9, 2026.

Around the World

Each month we choose one country and travel there together. Every child carries a passport and collects a stamp for each country we visit through the year.

  • Where it is — we find the country on the map and talk about where it sits in the world
  • What it looks like — we study the flag, its colors, and what they stand for
  • How it feels — we read stories set in that place and let them open up the conversation
  • Living books (Charlotte Mason approach) — real, beautifully written stories that build comprehension, narration, conversation, and writing
  • Math: thinking, not worksheets — logic puzzles, math board games, and real-life math like measuring, money, and building

Families carry their own language arts and math curriculum at home; our days together build on top of that. Most supplies are covered — now and then a project calls for one extra item from home.

Our Approach

Hands-on, minds-on learning

Kids learn best when they can touch it, build it, and talk it through. So instead of worksheets at desks, our learning happens on the floor, around the table, and with real materials in hand.

Open-ended materials

Build, test, rebuild

Blocks, tubes, foam pieces, and everyday objects become tools for solving problems, telling stories, and trying ideas out.

Learning together

Small groups, big ideas

Kids work side by side with a guiding adult close by — asking questions, sharing ideas, and figuring things out as a team.

Age-appropriate work

Same theme, right level

Everyone works on the same big idea, but each child gets work matched to where they are.

Age-appropriate work

One table, every level

We learn multi-age on purpose. The older ones teach the little ones, the little ones look up to the older ones, and everyone works at their own developmental level on the same shared adventure.

The same living book reaches a five-year-old and an eight-year-old at completely different depths — one might be drawing and tracing while another writes sentences or answers comprehension questions — and then they talk about it together.

Our Day · 10:00 AM–2:00 PM

Our Wednesday rhythm

10:00–10:20

Arrival & Morning Circle — families settle in and we open with our social-emotional circle: a check-in, gratitude, and a calm start.

10:20–11:00

Read-Aloud & Whole Group — Around the World: the country, the map, the flag, and the week’s living book.

11:00–11:10

Brain Break — movement, fresh air, or a mindful breathing moment.

11:10–11:50

Work Session — hands-on writing, geography, science, math, and art, differentiated so each child works at their own level.

11:50–12:00

Tidy & Settle In — we put away morning materials and get our lunch spot ready.

12:00–1:00

Lunch & Outdoor Play — families bring lunch and we eat together, then the kids run, climb, and play outside.

1:00–2:00

Enrichment Block — Music & Art.

2:00

Goodbye — we tidy up and head home together.

The schedule is a guide, not a rigid script — we follow the kids’ energy and the day’s flow, and outdoor time flexes with the weather. This is an adult-participation program: a parent or caregiver stays with their child the whole day.

The Enrichment Block

An afternoon hour for big ideas

Every Wednesday closes with a full enrichment hour from 1:00 to 2:00 — a hands-on class where kids make, play, and create together.

Wednesday

Music & Art

Hands-on making, playing, and listening — from painting and building to a guest teacher bringing in something like piano.

A peek inside our classes

Important People Around the World

We read a picture-book biography together, then bring the story to life through art. In one of our classes we met Eugenie Clark, the marine biologist known as the “Shark Lady,” through the book Shark Lady by Jess Keating.

Then the kids painted their own ocean scenes in layers of blue and built sharks from glue lines and bits of bark — each one different, and each one theirs.

Sample class

Rhythm Class

A class all about music you can feel. With a live musician leading the way, the kids explored rhythm hands-on — drumming, shaking egg shakers, tapping drumsticks, and listening to the ukulele.

Kids of every age joined in, from the littlest drummers to the older kids keeping the beat.

Questions & Answers

Frequently asked

Yes. This is an adult-participation program — a parent or caregiver stays with their child the whole day. It’s not a drop-off.

When and where do you meet?

Wednesdays, 10:00 AM–2:00 PM, at the Hialeah Gardens Library. Friday community days rotate between local outings.

What ages is the pod for?

Kindergarten through 3rd grade. It’s multi-age by design — older kids teach younger ones, and everyone works at their own level.

How much is tuition?

$150/month per child, plus a one-time $50 registration fee. Friday community days are free.

Are Fridays really free?

Yes — the day itself is always free. Field trip venues occasionally charge their own admission, which families cover directly.

Can I use my Step Up For Students scholarship?

Yes — we’re an approved Step Up provider. Search Sprout Kids LLC or Little Learn Club in your Step Up account.

Do you cover language arts and math?

Families carry their own language arts and math curriculum at home. In the pod, we focus on the Around the World unit, living books, critical thinking, math games, and real-life math.

What if we miss a day?

There are no make-up days — tuition holds your child’s spot for the month, whether or not you make it every day.

What if we need to leave the program?

Please give 30 days’ notice to cancel so we can plan ahead.

What do kids need to bring?

A small personal kit they’ll use all year — the full suggested supply list is in the info packet. You don’t need everything; bring what fits your family.
