The Play Plan · Second Grade gives you 10 story-anchored themed units of daily, hands-on learning built specifically for ages 7–8. It follows a real school-year rhythm: an optional August bridge, then nine academic units from September through May. Each unit is self-contained: a theme, four weeks of Monday-through-Friday activities, a weekly book, and a closing reflection page. One activity a day, about 25–35 minutes each. Skip a day, swap days, stretch a unit longer, or dig deeper when something catches fire — it is built to flex around your real life.

Every activity strengthens one of six core skill areas:

Reading & Writing — reading independently, fluency, comprehension, journaling, paragraph writing, opinion writing, narrative writing, informative writing, short essays, and real authorship

Math & Operations — place value to 1,000, addition and subtraction within 1,000, mental math, money word problems, time, measurement, fractions, and early multiplication foundations

Science & Inquiry — real experiments, hypotheses, matter, plants, animals, weather patterns, data collection, graphs, conclusions, and research writing

Social Studies & World — deeper American history, world geography, communities, citizenship, multiple sources, and comparing life across cultures and time

Arts & Performance — real art techniques, storytelling, drama, authorship, presentations, project displays, and performance

Big Kid Skills — weekly planning, self-reflection, responsibility, research habits, long-form projects, and third-grade readiness
