A vibrant sensory science invitation that’s fizzy, foamy, and full of fun!
This Color-Changing Bubble Station is a toddler-friendly science setup designed to spark curiosity, creativity, and sensory exploration. Using colored bubble foam, your little one can scoop, pour, and mix colors while building early science thinking — no harsh reactions or mess required!
This is one of our favorite activities inside the October Curriculum, perfect for introducing color mixing, textures, and hands-on experimentation without any spooky Halloween themes.

🎯 What Your Toddler Is Learning
- Sensory Exploration – Exploring texture, color, and visual changes
- Color Theory – Mixing primary colors to create new ones
- Fine Motor Skills – Scooping, squeezing, and pouring
- Cause & Effect – Seeing what happens when colors blend
🧺 What You’ll Need
- A large bin or tray
- Water
- A squirt of baby shampoo or dish soap
- Food coloring (red, yellow, blue)
- A blender or hand mixer (to create foam)
- Cups, scoops, pipettes, and/or spoons for mixing
🛠️ How to Set It Up
- In a blender or large bowl, combine:
- 2 tablespoons baby shampoo or dish soap
- ¼ cup water
- A few drops of food coloring
- Blend until thick foam forms (about 20–30 seconds).
- Repeat for 2–3 different colors and scoop the colored foam into separate sections of the tray.
- Invite your toddler to mix, scoop, and combine the colors using spoons, cups, or even their hands!
💡 Optional Add-Ons
- Add glitter for a magical touch
- Give each child their own tray to experiment freely
- Provide a small container of plain water nearby so they can rinse and repeat
