At this stage, toddlers are rapidly growing and exploring the world around them. The toys and items you select should align with their developmental milestones, ensuring they are both engaging and safe.

Before you choose Easter basket ideas for toddlers

Aim to get your child toys that enhance their fine motor skills, hand-eye coordination, language acquisition, and cognitive abilities through toys and activities.

By selecting toys and activities that are suited to their age, you foster their growth and curiosity, setting a strong foundation for their future learning.

Safety first!

It is also essential to consider the safety aspect when choosing Easter basket gifts. Make sure all items are free from small parts that could pose a choking hazard and that they meet the necessary safety standards. This ensures that your child can play with their gifts without any risks.

So, let’s dive into some fantastic Easter basket ideas that are specifically designed for your toddler, combining entertainment, learning, and safety in one delightful package.

LEARNING Easter basket ideas for toddlers

Fine Motor Work Toys

Sensory play is crucial for your child’s overall development. Consider Easter-themed sensory playsets that offer different textures, shapes, and colors for your little one to explore.

Look for toys that work on color recognition, shape recognition, and counting using a hands-on approach. These playsets provide opportunities for tactile exploration, fine motor development, and sensory stimulation.

Sorting Toys to add to your Easter basket ideas for toddlers

Stacking and nesting toys are great for building your child’s fine motor skills, hand-eye coordination, and problem-solving abilities. Look for sets with different sizes, colors, and shapes that can be stacked or nested together. These toys help your child understand concepts like size, shape, and spatial awareness while keeping them engaged and entertained.

Puzzles For Cognitive Development

Puzzles and shape sorters not only keep them entertained but also enhance their problem-solving skills, hand-eye coordination, cognitive abilities, and independent play.

Look for puzzles with large, chunky pieces and shape sorters with easy-to-grasp shapes. Choose Easter-themed options like these puzzles with cute bunny shapes that go from easy to hard.

Musical Instrument

Musical instruments are a great way to introduce your child to the world of music and rhythm. Egg shakers are popular in my classes and a must in every home.

These Haba-colored eggs are safe for those still putting things in their mouth. Includes 5 rainbow-colored wooden eggs each of which makes a different sound and works on developing the sense of hearing. These toys encourage your child to explore different sounds. A great skill to work on during this time is to get them ready for reading when they get to kindergarten.

Activity Books

Look for Easter-themed activity books that include coloring pages, mazes, and simple puzzles. These books provide hours of fun while enhancing your child’s cognitive abilities

Prewriting Toys

These scribble tables are one of my favorite items to keep in the car at all times. They can work on creating squiggles, practice their letters, and be very creative with their drawings.

Interactive Activities with Stickers

These stickers allow you to create your easter characters by choosing which eyes, mouth and nose go with each one. It’s a great game for kids of all ages but I love it for toddlers because of its simplicity and size which makes them easier to handle for little fingers.

Reusable Sticker Activity Books

These books are great for traveling, at the restaurant, or when you are waiting to see the doctor. Reusable stickers work on language development along with fine motor skills and it’s a great addition to your basket!

By including books and interactive learning materials in your 18-month-old’s Easter basket, you’re nurturing their love for reading, language development, and cognitive skills. These materials provide endless learning opportunities.

Interactive Book

Books are a fantastic way to engage your toddler’s growing language and cognitive skills. Look for interactive books with colorful illustrations, touch-and-feel elements, and flaps to lift.

I also love books with great stories and learning concepts. In class, I always do color-mixing activities with the White Bunny 🐰 book. As the bunny dips himself in the buckets we mix the colors on paper the kids love it and is a great way to expand the activity.

Sensory and tactile toys for Easter baskets

Sensory toys are great toys to keep in your bag at all times. These bunnies are great for color recognition as well as to help manage stress and fine motor strength. They are cute for the basket and the suction cups make them a great addition for playtime at restaurants.

These toys allow your child to squeeze, mold, and shape their creations, fostering their imagination and tactile senses.

Scavenger Hunt Game for Toddlers

When going outdoors is not an option, a scavenger hunt is a great idea to do. I have a similar game (no longer available for purchase) and we love playing at home. The cards are easy to use by toddlers because of the imagery and when you hide them around the house, they use all their active energy and problem-solving skills.

Personalized Hand-woven Easter Basket

End with the basket you will fill out. Choose a large basket that can fit bulky toys and stuffed animals.

I love this customizable basket that is not only made with really good natural materials offering a Montessori approach but it also enhances letter recognition through their name label.

Soft Plush Toys

1. Soft plush toys: Soft and cuddly plush toys make for a perfect Easter surprise. Look for options that are safe for young children, such as those made from hypoallergenic materials and with securely stitched eyes and noses.

Opt for animal-themed plushies like bunnies, ducks, or lambs to keep with the Easter theme. These toys provide comfort, promote imaginative play, and can even become a beloved companion for your little one.

when my son was little and I was getting him used to his room for nap times I got him a bunny. His name was Maggie and every time he would nap I would put Maggie with him. It became his companion and made independent naps a lot easier.
