If you still have a little one that put things in his/her mouth, then this Rainbow Taste-Safe Painting activity is perfect to celebrate the rainbow this spring season.
I hosted our baby taste-safe class celebrating what’s at the end of the rainbow. I used the recipe below to create the rainbow.
I then present it to the babies in a tray adding a squeeshi pot of gold to encourage them to get messy.
If you have a toddler/baby younger than 12 months, you want to encourage them to use their hands and fingers to spread the paint over the tray. A paintbrush is not needed.
Cornstarch Edible Baby Paint

Notes
If it’s too watery after cooling, add it to a saucepan on low heat. Mix until it comes together.
Ingredients
- 1 cup cornstarch
- 1 cup cold water
- 3 cups boiling water
Instructions
- Add the corn starch and cold water to a bowl and mix well
- Slowly add in trash boiling water
- Separate into smaller bowls and add in food coloring
- Allow it to cool and it’s ready
